Custom Tables

Rare Earth Hardwoods (REH) has engaged its employees to the next level of custom wood products. The Figured Bubinga dining table shown is a 2008 project commissioned by the purchasers after REH supplied the wood ceiling and flooring materials for their new home in Arizona. With a table top measurement of 12' x 5', the design is a collaboration by the homeowners and Tucker Darby, REH Special Projects Craftsman. Working with the homeowner's concepts, Tucker Darby coursed through five CAD renditions of the table in an effort to include elements that compliment the natural linear components found within the home. The design theme showcases strong lines influenced by Prairie School and Craftsmen architecture, exhibited by the hand matched Figured Quartersawn Bubinga top surface and supported by the multiple cylindrical rods of the trestle base.

At our company headquarters and manufacturing facility, we stock over 100 species of lumber, from Angelim Pedra to Zebrawood. Excelling at both residential and commercial activities, Rare Earth Hardwoods looks forward to working with you on your current and future projects. Please call or e-mail today with your specifications.

REH Special Projects man, Tucker Darby, continues his excellence for custom woodworking and applies his top rate skills to producing custom interior and exterior doors.

REH entryway doors are manufactured using classical techniques for joinery with updated modern processes for materials and stability. All panel doors are full mortise and tenon joined. Stiles and rails are stave core constructed with premium face veneers applied to all visible surfaces. Solid raised panels are floated within the frame, while flat panels are faced with premium veneers on MDF or cross banded cores. Tucker Darby hand selects the visible woods and veneers for each door he makes, assuring the aesthetics of the materials are synchronous with the high quality joinery he works into every project.

Patriarchal Walnut Tree Arrives at Rare Earth Hardwoods

Rick Paid, President and owner of Rare Earth Hardwoods, has secured the reclamation of the largest American Walnut (Juglans Nigra) he has seen in his lifetime. This tree was slated to be removed for a construction upgrade at a schoolyard frequented by Rick in his youth. Reports Rick, "This tree was huge when I was a kid and I used to play around it. By the time I was old enough to drive, this tree became a landmark for other activities and holds many memories, a real storehouse of history. I was fortunate to be contacted by the excavator of the impending removal of this mammoth specimen, as it fits within our mission of infrastructure log reclamation and use. Thank you to Kal Excavating for contacting us with the opportunity to acquire a special tree."

This tree is destined to be sawn into thick slabs, the amount of crotch figures promises to be exquisite. Sign up today to be on the first list offering for the unique slabs to be generated from this monster.

Birdseye Maple Cabinets

Karen Smith writes, "Our Birdseye Maple cabinets are special not only for their beauty, but also for their uniqueness. When the sun shines in our kitchen window, the natural luster of the wood jumps out and grabs you. Depending on the light, the cabinets appear to change colors and have different looks at different times of the day. Everyone who visits our home, comments on the fact that they have never seen cabinets made with Birdseye Maple. They rave at the beauty of the wood. I would like to give Mike DeCaire kudos by complimenting him on his fine craftsmanship. He takes a great deal of pride in his craft, and he is amazing at what he does."
